We examine the performance of diversity combining with imperfect channel estimation when the channel is comprised of diffuse as well as specular, or nonfading, components. It is shown that the presence of specular components under certain conditions can reduce the combining loss incurred by large-bandwidth systems when employing imperfect channel estimates and combining a significant number of resolvable paths.
