Abstract

An adaptive algorithm for automatic segmentation of objects in cytological images is described. The algorithm is based on the well-known seeded region growing method (SGR), is robust to noise, and can handle low contrast images. The algorithm allows for automatic adjustment of its parameter values and initialization of cluster growth.
