This paper presents an algorithm for segmentation of convex cells with partially undefined edges based on application of a marker-controlled watershed transform to a combination of a source grayscale image and the result of a "geodesic distance" morphological operation, applied to the result of binarization of a source image. The presented approach is used in computer image processing systems for analysis of several industrial materials.
