Abstract

The research proposes a path selection algorithm for multihomed hosts attached to Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HWN) for maritime wireless communications. We first review the state-of-the-art of the Multihoming technology and explain rationale behind Multihoming. The Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) is also introduced to address the importance of multiple attributes for path selection. The article then provides a Neural Network (NN) based optimal path selection that is applied to managing multihomed hosts and facilitates MADM. The simulation results prove that the performance of proposed hop field NN based path selection for multihomed hosts is ideal for the target maritime HWN environment.
