Abstract

The increasing complexity of industrial products, an aging workforce, and tremendous amount of product information from enterprise information systems as well as the emerging Internet of Things are some of the challenges that have to be faced in the area of industrial field service. Mobile and semantic technologies may help to provide the right information, at the right time, in the right place to the right people. In this paper, we describe in how far semantic mobile applications can be utilized to support industrial service processes. The presented architecture for semantic data federations provides an integrated approach to deliver tailored information from very heterogeneous information sources, thus supporting various roles in the service process at the same time.
