How to implement each member of a communication group having the same group key in security is the basis of secure group communication which is the main communication form in distributed systems. Group key distribution protocol is the main method to make each member to have same group key. This paper proposes a group key distribution protocol based on one-way key chain tree (OKCT). Firstly, we give a definition of secure one-way key chain tree. Secondly, we respectively propose the protocols of the group key distribution when member joins/leaves the group. Thirdly, we prove the security of group distribution protocol based on OKCT. Finally, we analyze the performance of group distribution protocol based on OKCT, which are apparently better than the existing ones.
