The paper presents the work performed on a SQL database that holds the physical commercial operations carried on in an oil refinery. The data was selected, preprocessed and transformed, in order to obtain a consistent data context. The resulting database was processed using Microsoft Analysing Services Server in SQL Server 2005. Views were defined in order to obtain and process an OLAP cube. Data mining structures were defined and applied on the views and an application was built to generate test transactions, to inspect the locks' status, to visualize data mining results and to assess performance.
