Abstract

Gears are one of the most common and important machine components in many advanced machines. This paper shows the importance of determining the shape of the line of action in order to obtain the best kinematical characteristics in terms of quality performance. For this reason a simplified derivation of the mathematical model of parametric tooth profiles was presented. A procedure for the design of spur gear sets using the quadratic parametric tooth profiles has been developed. The improvement of the kinematical quality of gear transmission was tested by means of the Wavelet Transform.
