Abstract

The automatic diagnosis of breast cancer is an important, real-world medical problem. The purpose of this study is to develop a method of classifying cancer tumor to specific diagnostic categories based on their gene expression signatures. The proposed neural network model holds promise for radiologists, surgeons, and patients with information, which was previously available only through biopsy, thus substantially reducing the number of unnecessary surgical procedures. This paper uses Back Propagation Algorithm to classify cancer into pre-defined classes namely Benign' or 'Malignant'.
