Abstract

Organizations are acting, developing in their environments. Business means the exchange with this environment. These organizations are embedded in the business network. A Group Decision Support System (GDSS) presents an efficient and effective method for large groups to conduct meetings in which comments or preferences must be exchanged. Using a GDSS, group members may exchange comments, rank solution alternatives, edit group documents, or perform some other type of collaborative group work. The comments, rankings, or voting results may also be printed out as minutes of the meeting for future reference. Social networking successfully bringing singles and groups together based on affinity and mutual interests, business-networking. The natural next step beyond assisting with the network meeting process is to provide an online application facilitating rich, real-time communication. Often, the key to using a business network successfully involves the creation of your personal friends --- or business connections --- group. With your account set up and contacts entered a small but growing network of individuals can now easily search your personal network for relevant business contacts. This paper is exploring how Web-based GDSS can be embedded in the social networking sites so as to promote businesses and business discussions and decisions. Automated record keeping log of the discussion supports the development of an organizational memory from meeting to meeting. A GDSS also provides a certain amount of structure to the meeting. With this structure in place, it is more difficult to deviate from the problem-solving cycle and make incomplete or premature decisions. The group has a more concentrated discussion, and they stay focused on 'the issues throughout the meeting. It can help people at geographically different locations to interact successfully and come to fruitful decisions.
