Abstract

In wireless communication the concept of parallel transmission of symbols is applied to fast incoming serial data which is bursty in nature due to multipath fading requires to achieve high throughput and better transmission quality. Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplex (OFDM) is one of the technique for parallel transmission which maintains orthogonality and better quality which is here by use for fast rate applications for a variety of broadband systems such as asymmetric digital subscriber lines, high speed digital subscriber lines, digital video and audio broadcasting based standard 802.11 wireless local area network. The fading environments have increasing bit error rate (BER). The performance for fading channels can be improved with different rates of convolution encoder as a channel coding technique. The objective is to analyse and compare the performance of bit error rate for convolution encoder with various rate 1/2, 1/3, 2/3 and 2/4 in Additive white Gaussian Noise (AWGN), Rayleigh fading environment.
