Abstract

Infrastructure As A Service (IaaS) cloud providers manage a large set of computing resources. Resources are provided to cloud consumers on demand in the form of virtual machines. Haizea, a resource lease manager, supports advance reservation, immediate, best effort and deadline sensitive resource allocation policies. Haizea uses resource leases as resource allocation abstraction and provides these leases by allocating virtual machines. Haizea does not support negotiation for any allocation policy. This work proposes decision making algorithms and extends the current advance reservation algorithms in Haizea to provide negotiation based allocation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms maximize resource utilization and acceptance of requests in comparison with existing algorithms in Haizea.
