Abstract

This paper presents an Equilateral-Triangle-Mesh (ETM) method for the micrositing of wind farms. By proper encoding, the ETM method is implemented in a genetic algorithm, which is applied to the optimal micrositing problem in terms of minimal cost per unit energy. Computational simulations are carried out for three classical cases given by Grady. The results indicate that the ETM method, together with appropriate mesh orientation, remarkably reduces the cost per unit energy of the wind farm and improves its efficiency. And how to choose the mesh orientation is given in the end.
