Abstract

MDA, MDE, and MDD are some of the latest buzzwords in the software development area which unveil the still emerging and evolving nature of the field. Though promising, the approach still lacks theoretical foundations. In this paper, we quickly review and explain the approach. We reflect on foundational concepts, question some key notions, and bring additional insight to the process. Finally, we elaborate on the open issue of model transformation and semantics preservation and propose some elements of solution.
