Abstract

This paper mainly introduces a basic method for image compression using wavelet transform. After transformation clustering is used to quantize the wavelet coefficient of high frequency band. Digital image compressing using traditional Wavelet Transform discards high-frequency information of source image which includes edge information and texture information; some luminance information will lose too. So the reconstructing image will take the form of indention and the luminance is lower than source image. Our method keeps the information of image edge and texture, hence the quality of reconstructing image is improved.
