Abstract

In health care projects the surgical interventions at human eyes became more important because of no preventing the different optical diseases. For presbyope cataract patients, a cloudy, fixed human lens is removed and replaced by a clear fixed artificial intraocular lens (IOL). At an example of an ophthalmological intervention in case of the remove of the natural lens and implantation of a artificial lens it is shown, that a computer triggered decision making support can optimize the IOL selection process in combination with surgical methods, based on the patient related situation. By common internet based knowledge the experiences of the different clinical experts would be available for such a cataract intervention. This proposal shows a knowledge engineering process to a well structured knowledge base for the surgeons.
