The aim of this paper is to present a software system implemented in MATLAB, which represents the "Shape design component" of a strain-stress analysis system. In the deformation and drawing process of materials, the form of punches' surface and implicitly of the final object is obtained using an interpolation method, starting from given digitalized points. The aim of the strain-stress analysis system is to compare how different interpolation techniques applied for approximation of punches' surface influence the strain-stress distributions in material sheets. The article presents the mathematical elements and the implementation details of the "Shape design component". In our system we used Bézier techniques for surface approximation.
