Abstract

We analyze the model where the outcomes of biometric measurements of a person are expressed by a ternary vector whose components equal to a special symbol * are considered as information that the corresponding parameters are non-significant. The 0 and 1 components show the types of significant parameters. The authentication of a person on the basis on significant parameters is reduced to the decoding of data transmitted over a binary-input and ternary-output channel. A special authentication algorithm that differs from the maximum likelihood decoding and forces an attacker to use the so-called "fair gambling strategy" is proposed.
