Abstract

In this paper I discuss the use of user generated content as a new data source for exploring geographic questions, through two exemplars: the derivation of vernacular regions and trajectory analysis. By exploring the implications of various elements of data quality on the derivation of vernacular regions, I make some initial suggestions as to the likely importance of these in the analysis of trajectories derived from user generated content.
