Simulation in support of design can be facilitated by the automatic selection of model levels for target accuracy and minimum computational cost. A stochastic method is proposed here to represent the difference between levels of the models of the individual components. Based on this representation the levels are selected and the choice is validated on a case study of design of a motor protection.
