Data-Distribution Service (DDS) is the first open international middleware standard directly addressing publish-subscribe communications for distributed systems. The paper is dedicated to an object-oriented layer (OOL) for a development of distributed systems based on the DDS standard. It provides a high-level abstraction for DDS data access and communication through local objects. OOL allows exchanged data to be described not only in terms of attributes, but also in terms of methods and aggregation relationships with other objects. The proposed OOL allows DDS systems to be integrated easily into larger network-centric systems.
