The paper aims to analyze the possibilities of increasing the reliability level of software applications based on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) by the means of Design by Contract principles and explicit manipulation of business rules. Two architectural approaches have been taken into consideration: process centric SOA and information centric SOA. Also, a comparative analysis regarding the use of process diagrams versus use cases in SOA modeling is presented.
