Abstract

This paper proposes possible solutions and tools to ensure the operation of a VANET without any central authority. They are based on security features that are essential in networks such as authenticity, privacy, integrity and non-repudiation. The proposal allows detecting and warning about abnormal traffic conditions through the cooperation among the involved users. Mobile devices equipped with wireless connection will be the main devices for these VANETs as they will be used to exchange current information about road conditions.
