Recently, the use of noise-like spreading sequences which exhibit all the time domain, frequency domain and statistical characteristics of additive Gaussian noise in the channel has been receiving much attention. In all the schemes and investigation up to now, there has been the assumption of perfect transmitter and receiver synchronisation. This paper relaxes that assumption and derives accurate bit-error-rate expressions when random timing mismatches are present between the transmitter and receiver. The theoretical expressions are then verified with simulation results when the random timing mismatch has different probability density functions.
