The brain carries out cognitive learning and processing by performing combinations of different types of information processes. Types of information processes are performed by different anatomical structures and implemented in physiology. The information processes performed by different major anatomical structures including the cortex, basal ganglia, thalamus and cerebellum are described, including their implementations in neuron physiology. The implications for the architecture and design of a general intelligence system are discussed.
