Reputation has recently been introduced into wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to counter the selfish or malicious nodes and provide solutions to the existing security problems in WSNs. In the reputation modeling of WSNs, beta reputation model has received wide attention and many literatures have proposed reputation models based on beta reputation or modified beta reputation. This research focuses on the study of beta reputation modeling and further presents a reputation model based on the negative binomial distribution. Application of the new method is proposed and future possible study direction is presented at the end of this research.
