Abstract

We present an automated document classification task from the field of machine learning and argue that from both a conceptual and technical standpoint, this task can be addressed using algorithms accessible to first year students. Additionally, we provide some guidance to instructors in how to select a dataset to reinforce a particular learning objective within this simple machine learning project.
