Abstract

Grid is fully utilized only during certain period and when a new job arrives at that instance it should wait until grid resources are free. But most of the time the grid resources are utilized minimally. On the other hand although private cloud is secured than public cloud, its elasticity is limited depending on the private cloud's maximum hardware capacity. We propose an architecture to integrate grid and private cloud such that grid resource requirements are fulfilled by fetching resources from cloud when needed and vice versa. A dedicated storage cluster is added in the integrated environment to enhance the performance and improve job execution. We propose a semantic based integration management of grid and cloud for improved resource management. This approach provides better service availability, quality and optimal utilization of resources.
