This study aims at investigating the extent to which a course management system that is used by teachers improves teachers| course design and teaching skills and affects their professional development. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected through an online questionnaire. Results indicate that the use of the CMS by teachers follows the same pattern identified in previous research in the sense that the system is being used to serve organisational rather than pedagogical purposes although many teachers believe in the learning potential of the CMS. Contradictory to some previous studies, teachers do not seem to have increased their pedagogical use of the system over time and have not improved their course design and teaching skills as a result of using the CMS.
