Abstract

The trend towards service-oriented computing where communities share entire applications, code, information or computational services raises the general challenge of how to support the discovery and inspection of services by both end-users and developers. We show how tag clouds can provide a versatile means of visualising different kinds of data in support of the service discovery and inspection processes. Specifically, we present a platform designed to support the reuse and sharing of information services, detailing how tag clouds were used to provide visual summaries of both data and metadata in order to support both the browsing and querying of service repositories. We also discuss their possible application to other kinds of service repositories.
