Abstract

Dangerous or valuable cargo transportation has always been a serious security issue in many countries. Here, managing the constantly increasing information flow for decision support is a major issue for managers worldwide. Because, it is a serious computational problem for general e-services providing software solutions. Therefore, with the newly emerging field of research (mobile technologies and computer networks, e.g., mobile sensor networks, new smart radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems, etc.). Furthermore, new methods are integration into cargo transportation management. In this paper, a new experimental software solution (Container Transportation Monitoring System - CTRMS) is described, which evaluates specific cargo conditions at each step of transportation and identifies possible cargo damages in a container. This software is part of a complex information system for global container's monitoring. It helps support manager's decisions by providing them with additional statistical support information.
