Abstract

Data driven motion interpolation methods have been widely used in interactive avatar control, however, their ability to generalize example database has not been explored very well. This paper aims to discuss this issue in interactive avatar application domain. A new layered interpolation model is presented in this paper, where partial motions in limb subspace are interpolated and then final natural posture is further achieved by compensating the motion correlation between limbs. By comparing previous methods in representative interactive avatar applications such as pose editing and performative user interface, experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms previous ones.
