Abstract

The Network-based Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) has shown practical advantages and higher performance comparing traditional host-based mobility protocols. However, the basic PMIPv6 protocol only operates in localized scale inside a mobility domain. Recently, a couple of inter-domain extensions have been proposed. This paper provides a comparative performance evaluation of these global PMIPv6-based mobility options. Although the study can not claim that includes all the possible methods but its analytical results show the pros and cons of main options and gives more insight into this active research area.
