Personal Area Networks (PANs) are expected to play an important role in future mobile ad-hoc wireless communications and information systems. It targets low data rate, low power consumption and low cost wireless networking, and offers device level wireless connectivity. In this paper, a traffic aware power control algorithm is proposed to achieve high energy efficiency and high performance in distributed networks by observing the beacon relaying characteristic of distributed wireless PANs. Through the various performance studies, the proposed algorithm shows significant performance improvements in wireless PANs.
