This paper discusses enhanced information retrieval models by focusing on tracing requirements to design artifacts and vice versa. We propose two approaches for enhancing the vector space model. The first approach employs document identifiers of a term that indicate where the term has been found and a context sensitive retrieval strategy that use the identifiers. The other approach deals with a set of closely related terms called "family terms" in a query, which are used by a strategy that adjusts document vectors. Two experiments are conducted that demonstrate that the approaches are effective for enhancing the performance of information retrieval in terms of recall and precision.
