Abstract

Due to the scarce supply in personnel, the immanent significance of knowledge and the need for company-spanning cooperation, much is demanded from knowledge management solutions in the biotechnology industry. Together with a biotechnology company, an application-oriented solution was developed within the scope of the KnowBiT project to meet these requirements. The main emphasis was put on knowledge inquiry and knowledge transfer without the need to adapt the existing knowledge intensive processes. Thereby, the integrated application of new communication infrastructures was used to facilitate the access to information and to qualify it by identifying it with knowledge carriers or domain experts.
