How to efficiently locate desired information over the self-organized decentralized Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks is one of the main challenges that greatly affect the realization of its potential advantages. In this paper, we present an IP routing inspired solution to address this problem in a distributed and scalable manner. In our scheme, we first build a hierarchical P2P Semantic Overlay Network (SON) via taking advantages of the hierarchical nature of document semantics, then implement an IP routing inspired routing algorithm to perform information search over the SON. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposal could significantly improve the system performance versus random overlay network with low cost.
