Applications for wireless sensor networks (WSNs), such as environmental monitoring, flood detection, and health-care applications, have encountered a great deal of attention in recent research. Some applications of WSNs experience that the distribution of their sensors evolves with time. Others may require having mobile sensors. We, therefore, consider the problem of having WSNs with evolving distribution. We modify W-LEACH by Abdulsalam and Kamel, and test original and modified algorithms on WSNs with evolving nature. We simulate our algorithm to evaluate its performance. Results show that W-LEACH and its modified version are capable of handling evolving WSNs. Our modified version, moreover, increases the network lifetime and the average lifetime for sensors.
