The prospect of establishing wireless local area network (WLAN) has many major issues, one of which happens to be the determination of the best placement of the access points (AP). This problem consists of determining the optimal locations for AP in order to maximize the coverage area with a minimum number of access points. Because there happens to be a large number of possible solutions, this problem is suitable to be tackled with evolutionary techniques, so in this work it has been developed inspired on the well-known Differential Evolution (DE) method. Experimental results have revealed the efficiency of this proposed algorithm.
