In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), lossless data is one of the crucial parts for transmission between communicating nodes. Though End-to-End data retransmission has evolved as a reliable transportation in the Internet, this method becomes inefficient in WSNs due to wireless communication, and resource-constrained sensor nodes (hardware- and power- limited). Focus on studying factors affecting reliability, and searching for efficient combinations of the possible options might improve reliable data transmission. In this paper, we propose an efficient Overhearing based reliable data transfer protocol in WSNs by introducing Selective and implicit Acknowledgement. As a result, the new approach can provide reliable data transfer efficiently based on ACK/NACK method. We also compared our present scheme with the existing one and observed that our scheme achieved a superior performance in WSNs.
