Abstract

Future mobile wireless Internet network will be based on Internet Protocol (IP) version 6. In this paper we describe an approach for obtaining a bandwidth reservation mechanism in the process of handoff in the wireless IP network. In our approach, we adopt the least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) method to minimize the probability of a new call blocking and the probability of dropping a call during the connection transfer between the cells. Simulation experiments show that in the environments with some types of traffic, a mechanism based on LS-SVM achieves good performance measures in bandwidth reservation.
