Abstract

In this paper, an application of one of the interesting methods in control engineering, i.e. sliding mode control, to congestion control and avoidance in differentiated services network is presented. To this end, the traffic is divided into three classes: Premium, Ordinary and Best Effort traffic. The Premium and Ordinary traffic are controlled using the proposed robust sliding mode control strategy, but the Best Effort traffic is uncontrolled. Simulation results of the proposed control action demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller in providing robust queue management system.
