Abstract

As a means of knowledge representation, event is close to the cognitive procedure of human beings The reasonableness of event as the unit of knowledge, and the insufficiency of using description logic (DL) to act as logical foundation of event ontology language, are analyzed in this paper According to the characteristics and requirement of the event ontology, this paper propose an event-oriented DL (EDL) to provide ontology languages (such as OWL) with well-defined semantics and inference service for supporting effective representation and reasoning of events.
