Abstract

Access control (call admission and data transmission policies) becomes essential for optimum resource utilization with traffic having varying Quality of Service (QoS) requirements In this paper, we determine optimal algorithms for joint admission control of voice calls and transmission of data packets in an integrated voice and data dual-class CDMA system The objective is to minimize the cost due to blocking of voice calls and the average delay suffered by the data packets The problem is formulated as an optimization problem over an infinite horizon, and the solution turns out to be a stationary policy for a given set of bit rate, Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) and outage probability requirements.
