Abstract

Writing force is an important biometric attribute for on-line writer verification But it is often neglected or introduced deficiently for the limitation of the existing input device In this paper, a text-independent on-line writer verification algorithm based on force feature is presented A novel digital tablet is used to collect data, which can capture all three-dimensional writing forces in addition to pen position Four force features are extracted from the writing force information of significant basic strokes, which are segmented and determined by the normal force, length and direction of the strokes The Euclidean distance of feature vectors is measured to verify the input characters with the template A preliminary experiment shows that the writing force is an effective feature for the writer verification.
