Abstract

A comprehensive functional approach to interactive information systems is suggested. The pervasive use of functions in a variety of subfields ranging from data modeling and retrieval to software development and evaluation is summarized as a justification for further investigation into a comprehensive functional approach to interactive information systems. A purely functional architecture is described.
