Abstract

This paper presents key characteristics and/or fundamental features of autonomous evolutionary information systems, the most fundamental issues in design and implementation of autonomous evolutionary information systems, our basic ideas and approaches to address the issues, and some challenges for future research. The notion of an autonomous evolutionary information system, its actual implementation, and its practical applications concern various areas including logic, automated reasoning, software engineering, and knowledge engineering, and will raise new research problems in these areas.
