Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) has witnessed mobility as an important development over the last few years So far the discussion about mobile information systems has largely been techno-centric and supplier oriented rather than business-centric and user oriented The lack of available methods for business driven evaluation motivates the research question of effective decision making support This paper summarizes the PhD research effort aimed at constructing a decision support model to enhance the awareness and understanding of mobile applications impact It presents a formal approach and lays out in the underlying research methodology as well as the epistemological position This contribution also highlights the recent and dynamic debate on suitable IS research standards, thereby inviting a discussion on appropriate artifact-based design research and the central question of validation to successfully complete the research project.
