Abstract

We have developed a system that supports remote secure internet voting and ensures the secrecy of the voting process by means of employing advanced cryptography techniques. In this paper, we present this system, called VoteSecureTM. The cryptography-related part performs the encryption and “breaking” of the ballots submitted to parts that are distributed to tally members. These ballots can be later reconstructed by means of the cooperation of at least T out of N tally members. We argue that our system is both innovative and useful; it can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated with an existing e-government and/or e-community platform that could take advantage of its functionality.
