Abstract

Effective and efficient power management remains one of the most formidable obstacles that must be overcome before Wireless Sensor Networks can be deployed on a widespread basis. Embedding agents on individual sensors offers one promising approach for intelligent power management. In this paper, initial results of simulations are presented which indicate the potential of this approach for extending the lifetime of individual sensor nodes, and ultimately, Wireless Sensor Networks.
